The Barberium carries a history as rich as the Covered Market itself. The shop first opened its doors in 1999, becoming a trusted spot for Oxford locals and visitors alike. For decades, it stood as a traditional barbershop — a place where stories were shared as much as hair was cut.

Then came Covid. Like so many small businesses, the shop faced challenges that threatened its future. But out of that difficult time came a new beginning. After lockdowns eased, we stepped in with a vision: to breathe life back into the space, honouring its heritage while giving it a rustic new facelift.

With a superb squad, fresh energy, modern style, and a respect for the craft of barbering, we transformed the old shop into The Barberium — a barbershop that feels at once timeless and forward-looking. The raw textures, rustic finishes, and updated design bring warmth and atmosphere, while our skilled hands keep the focus on what matters most: great cuts, sharp fades, and beard work done properly.
